Girls' Night In Sometimes
I just need a Girls' Night In. No testosterone allowed. No dressing up, no heels or makeup. There's room in my life for a
simple evening where the girls get together, rent some chick flicks, open a bottle or two of wine, grab a box of Kleenex,
crawl into something really comfortable, like a comfy pj set from Addition Elle, and celebrate the intimacy of friendship
with a good laugh or cry. We find it cathartic to wallow in some fictional characters'
tragedy (Beaches) or realize that our boss is not so bad after all (The Devil Wears Prada, Nine to Five). Nice to know that
you can find a knight in shining armour (Pretty Woman), chivalry is not dead (Kate & Leopold), and a perfect size 18 can
beat out a perfect size 8 (Fried Green Tomatoes). Watch
& you will believe in the power of the community of women (The Color Purple, The Secret Life of Bees), and that men don't
really rule the world (Thelma & Louise), although they really think they do. It's refreshing to watch people moving in slow motion (Ghost) without getting blown up or shot down, or witness friends
falling in love (When Harry Met Sally) instead of falling into bed. Realizing your worth (The Joy Luck Club), taking a chance on love (Titanic, An Affair to Remember) or turning it
down in order to honor your family and commitments (The Bridges of Madison County), powerful themes to ponder...what would
YOU do? Girls Night In is an opportunity to
cry together (Love Story), laugh together (Bridget Jones' Diary), enjoy fashion & great shoes together (Sex in the City)
and drool over hot hot hot leading men (Dirty Dancing, Chocolate, Twilight) without upsetting the boys. Chick Flicks rarely contain X rated scenes, bodily functions or sports. They focus
instead on memorable love scenes (sometimes hot), stunning cinematography & hauntingly beautiful music.
